The UK’s best dog-friendly beaches have been revealed with new data from online reviews to find Britain’s favourites.
With spring promising warmer weather and April being National Pet Month, it’s a great time to get out and about with a four-legged friend.
First place went to dog-friendly Durdle Door beach in Dorset, with a rating of 8.85 out of 10. The famous limestone arch, which provides a dreamy backdrop for a game of ball, is described as “the perfect pool for dogs and their owners.” ” “. The rating was based on 4,298 reviews of West Country Beach.

Another Dorset beach resort, Man O’War Beach, came in second after receiving a rating of 8.3. Also known as Durdle’s East Gate, it’s a rocky beach with calm waters protected from surfers, meaning you have the chance to splash around with your dog.
It is linked to a popular Welsh beach, Three Cliffs Bay in Glamorgan, the first sandy beach on the list. Here, there are dunes on the coast with plenty of places to explore.
In fourth place, with 8.2 out of 10, is Marloes Sands in Pembrokeshire. It’s a “perfect photo opportunity with your dog” due to a golden sea with spectacular cliffs in the background, the report says.

The research came from Showers to You, which analyzed Google reviews and ratings of 148 dog-free beaches to find the most popular spots. However, beaches that did not have Google Map ratings were excluded from the study. Before calculating a standardized scale, a weighted average was calculated to arrive at an overall weighted score.

Dog Friendly Staycations In The Uk
Hamworthy Park beach is a short walk from our caravan park and campsite and is dog friendly all year round. It is conveniently located on the north shore of Poole Harbour, with easy access to the town center and excellent views to Brownsea Island and the Isles of Purbeck.
Dogs are allowed to roam the sand and rocks on the beach, giving them plenty of room to burn off some energy. You’ll find dogs of all shapes and sizes playing ball and enjoying a well-deserved bath!
Behind the beach there is a green area where there is a lot of family fun. There is a cafe offering a selection of light meals, as well as a children’s play area and seasonal rides.
Dog Restrictions: Hamworthy Beach is dog friendly all year round. Dogs are allowed on the beach but must be on a leash. Dogs are not allowed in the playground and children’s pool.
Dog Friendly Beaches In East Yorkshire
Facilities: There are many facilities at Hamworthy Beach, including restaurants, playgrounds, outdoor sports equipment and paddle boarding. You can also rent beach huts to spend the day.
Parking: Paid parking is available at Hamworthy Park Surface Car Park. The number of places is limited, so you have to come early to secure a place.
Lulworth Cove is one of Dorset’s best-known attractions and a must-see for many visitors to the area. Dogs are welcome all year round, with no lead restrictions and easy access to a number of beautiful coastal walks.
The cave is shaped like a horseshoe, which means it is relatively sheltered even on windy days. In high summer the water is a beautiful turquoise color and is popular with swimmers, kayakers and divers.
Dog Friendly Beaches
Most of the beach is covered with small sand stones and some rock pools are visible at low tide. It is an ideal place to take your four-legged friend to draw or play.
Parking: There is a large paid parking lot just a few minutes from the beach. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can park at Durdle Door and walk along the coast path. It takes about 30 minutes, although the way back takes longer because everything is uphill.
Hengistbury Head is well worth a visit during your holiday at South Lytchett Manor. The rugged coastline is popular all year round thanks to its beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife. There are plenty of walks to enjoy around the corner and plenty of wildlife to explore. We personally recommend the 3.5 mile loop that includes beaches, forests, meadows and wetlands.
