This list includes an annual off-leash and off-leash dog list, information about each beach town, and all dog-friendly days during the summer holidays.
Melbourne’s Best Beaches In The Bay And On The Peninsulas
From Inverloch, then east along Ninety Mile Beach to Loch Sport in the Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park, here are the best South and Central Gippsland dog-friendly beaches to explore with your best friend.
Less than 2 hours from Melbourne is the beautiful coastal town of Inverloch, home to our dog beaches: Anderson Inlet.
The first time we looked at Anderson Inlet it was definitely a ‘wow’ moment! With calm, sparkling waters and driftwood piles piercing the pristine white sand, Anderson Inlet offers safety and spectacular scenery – the best dog-friendly beach in Inverloch.
Inverloch is known locally as great for watching dogs (yes, we watch other people’s dogs in front of us – be careful) and it is a dog friendly, beach house – traveler friendly park.
Pet Friendly Caravan Parks Vic
– Dogs are allowed outside at all times on Anderson Beach at the east entrance off Cuttress Street in Grandview Grove.

We highly recommend the local cafe in Inverloch for great baked goods and coffee – just look for the wavy rat!
The Best Spots To Camp, Hike And Swim With Your Dog In Victoria
Located on a narrow peninsula of land 180 kilometers east-south of Melbourne, Venice Bay is a wonderful part of the world that holds a special place in our hearts. We were in awe when we first saw this show at Ninety Mile Beach!
It’s no wonder we return to pet-friendly Blue Bay so often because we love the relaxing environment. As a small beach town, Venice Bay has a delightful welcoming atmosphere that allows you to completely relax and enjoy quality time with your beloved friend.
Whether you live in Venice Bay or nearby, you need a dog-friendly beach nearby. Just make sure your child is on a lead (according to synodal rules) especially to protect the local wildlife – in just one afternoon we saw a stingray, an echidna and a vulture on the beach!
– From 1 December to 31 March from 9am to 6pm, dogs are prohibited on all beaches.
Dog Friendly Destination
Stop by the Bay Gourmet Food and Wine Shop – there’s a table out front for your suitcase to join you for a delicious breakfast or lunch featuring the best local ingredients. Don’t forget to take it home safe too!
We discovered Sandy Point as a dog friendly spot thanks to some lovely visitors to my Aussie tribe and we are so grateful!
Located at the northern end of Wilson Prome National Park, Sandy Point is a quiet holiday resort that boasts a beautiful stretch of beach. As Sandy Point Beach is dog friendly, it is a great place to go for a long walk with your dog and enjoy the spectacle of golden and pink sunsets.
The closest entrance to Sandy Point is the secluded Village Inlet, a wide, calm dog beach surrounded by shallow sand (which the kids loved sniffing and exploring!) to get to Village Inlet, you have to drive to the beach. That was fun and something different!

Our Dog Friendly Guide To The Mornington Peninsula
Loch Luss is a dreamy and unspoilt seaside paradise that really surprised us – we didn’t expect to be as surprised as we were on our arrival!
Lochsport, famous for its fishing and water sports, is a dog-friendly seaside town with a wicked charm that is sure to appeal if you love nature as much as your dog.
We loved visiting the shores of Lake Victoria and the beach walks, as well as the beautiful scenery of the lake, including areas with weathered trees. We took lots of pictures here – so really great dog friendly walks on the beach! Park at the Boulevard Boat Ramp on the edge of the Lake National Park and walk along the shore from there.
