The family business, Plant Perfections, is owned by Paul Tindall (47) and his wife Tracey (45). Their son Jack (27) is also involved in the family business.
Plant Perfections came out on top as best garden center in Essex with a total of 383 votes from readers. Mead’s Croft Garden Center in Wickford is second (247), followed by Summerhill Garden Center in Billericay (101).

Chef Paul said it felt “absolutely amazing” to be recognized by customers. He added that it was a “great honor.” “One of my clients told me about it [the nomination],” Paul said. “I was so shocked that there are some great people out there. If my clients are happy, it means you have a good business.”
He added: “We work hard to make it as good as possible for customers. We try to be reasonable with our prices and we have a members club, and if you join you get extra discounts too. I’m the Primark of the plant world.”
Paul and Tracey ran a garden center in Upminster for over ten years before building and opening a site in Battlesbridge. Asked how their center in South Essex differs from others in the county, Mr. Tindall said: “We are a real garden center – we sell plants. I don’t work in cafes. We don’t have them. NAS is 100% vegan.
“My wife and I are the owners and we are always in the store and happy to offer any advice. We try to keep our customers honest. We treat everyone the same whether you live in a Bentley or come by bike.”
