Dog Friendly Vacations Missouri – I have to say that our next three stops were to visit family and friends (St. Louis, Kansas City, and Denver). We tried our best to do some dog friendly activities, but mostly relaxed and met wonderful people who opened their homes to us and made our trip even better. I am so grateful to everyone who has been with Oates and me and supported us on this journey.
After Ohio we had another 8 hour drive to St. Louis to visit my aunt who lives out of town. It was wonderful to spend time with him, especially since I never visited him in Missouri. I see him at family gatherings, but this is a great place for us to spend time together. He treated me to delicious food and wine and introduced Oats to the Dog Days of Summer in St. Russian. Honestly, I wasn’t planning on doing much “exploring” on this trip, but I really wanted to see the Arch of St. Louis Gateway Arch. When my aunt told me (how could I not know?) that the goal was the “West Gate,” and we couldn’t pass it. If this is an indication of the west, it will be perfect for our trip.

The park was dog friendly, but it was almost 90 degrees and very humid even though we got there early in the morning. Oats last 45 minutes before reheating.
After Oats got a little hot (again – check out our Ohio post!), I quickly looked for a place to cool off. I found Adventure Dog Park and called and spoke directly to the owner. He said it was a good place to cool off but no real swimming (I also looked into the St. Louis Dive Center but when I called they closed the pool after Labor Day) – but that’s fine with me – as long as it can cool down.
Treecourt is amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting (or living near) St. Russian. Dog friendly with owners, two small dog pools with running water to cool off, lots of places to run and explore, and a small mineral pool as the area is known for mineral water. Ovos is a day spa breed and I met the sweetest dog owners.
We are very lucky with this. We visited St. Louis the day after Labor Day, so my aunt told me that many of the city’s swimming pools were open to dogs. There were about 50-60 dogs, and Oats was always swimming and having toys all the time. I think they also do some pool days in early September, but I’m thankful we got there on a day when most pools were open for dogs. I didn’t bring my camera into the pool, understandably because I got soaked when I left, but here are some cell phone videos of her swimming.

My aunt also has a beautiful butterfly garden and grows monarchs at her house which she releases into the wild every year. There were about 8 of them in the cocoons while I was there, but we also saw a lot of butterflies in her garden so I had to take a picture. Sometimes I also shoot something other than Oats…sometimes.
