Best Dog Friendly Beaches Near Looe
This shingle beach is a great choice for family holidays in Cornwall. While not the best place to build sand castles, low tides reveal sparkling rock pools that can keep young and old entertained for hours!
Our Favourite Dog Friendly Beaches In Cornwall
It’s usually quieter than other beaches, which is another plus point, and nearby toilets and an ice cream kiosk help make days go smoothly. Enjoy the view of Louie Island from this sun trap on the beach.
If you bring your dog, Hannafore Beach is great because dogs are welcome year-round. It really is a beach for the whole family!
Backed by the famous Banjo Pier and overlooked by Mount Ararat, this beautiful, sandy beach offers a perfect day out. It is right in front of the old town, which means you can easily access many things. You can park in the large Millpool car park in West Looe which is just a 10 – 15 minute walk from the beach.
Although there is no lifeguard service at this beach, the water is generally considered safe for swimming, snorkeling and swimming (although it is best to avoid the mouth of the river).
Dog Friendly Beaches In Cornwall
Dogs are not allowed on Louie Beach. Parking is limited at East Looe, however the large Millpool car park at West Looe is only a 10-15 minute walk from the beach.
Whether you’re thinking of hitting the beach after a full day at the beach or on your caravan holiday in Cornwall, add Millendreath Beach to your list. Part of a chain of beaches linked by the South West Coast Path, you can easily access nearby beaches from this attractive, sandy beach.
The nearest beach is Tregod, just a five-minute walk from the park, which we hope you’ll visit at least once during your stay. From sandcastle building to water sports enthusiasts, this place has something for everyone. If you fall into the latter category, it’s worth noting that there are seasonal water sports equipment rentals that offer everything from paddle boards and kayaks to wet suits and life jackets.
A good tip is to go to this beach during low tide. It is completely submerged in waves and you miss the rocks and sink into the soft sand!
Beaches In Cornwall
Although there is no parking at Plaid Beach, it is a great little spot to explore. The best way to get there is to walk from Millendreath Beach. At low tide you can find interesting sand and rock pools on the flat rocks while at high tide you can use the slipway to launch a watercraft.
Note that there is no lifeguard service, but the water is considered safe for swimming and snorkeling (highly recommended!).
If you’re hoping to experience some real Cornish charm on your holiday in Cornwall, Polperro is a great place to start. The fishing village is beautiful and charming, the whitewashed cottages and winding streets attract every visitor.
Polpero’s small, sandy beach lies along the harbor walls and is a must-visit if you’re in the village. However, remember that at high tide the sand completely disappears! Polperro is a popular area so it’s very busy, so you’re after a day at the beach and nothing else.
The Most Dog Friendly Beaches In South Cornwall
There is no rescue service. Dogs are not allowed on the beach from Easter to October 1.
Another top choice for family holidays in Cornwall, Seaton Beach not only has safe and sheltered waters but also a river running through the sand. Set up camp for the day by the river and let your kids play to their heart’s content!
If they come to the beach, take the kids to a beach park. There is a cafe, shop and toilets nearby, making this a great beach for a full day visit.
On the downside, the beach is coarse sand and pebbles, not suitable for sand castles. However, excellent rock pools and other amenities complement this and Seaton Beach is well worth a visit.
