Originally from Florida, we love being at the beach! But after sleeping with Brickle and Digby at Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, I now understand lake life! Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore features miles of sandy beaches and cliffs that tower over Lake Michigan. Like many areas, there are some beaches that don’t allow dogs, so check with the friendly park staff, pick up a map or look online. We’ve got more room than expected for Brickell and Digby to move into this spring. But keep in mind that dogs are not allowed on the dunes for safety reasons.
Your dog will feel as high as Paul Bunyan when he visits Bemidji, MN! It was a fun stop for us on our trip. I encountered giant statues of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Cow for a photo opportunity. Native American Caves are the park’s main geological feature and contain prehistoric Native American petroglyphs! Make sure you put your dog on a leash and clean up afterwards to keep the area very clean.
We usually stayed away from big cities on our RV trips because our dogs were older. But we found Gateway Arch National Park in Missouri to be a great balance between country and exotic. Two iconic structures in this 91-acre park will take your breath away. Your dog will enjoy walking through the green grass and parkland, seeing the horses and carriages and picnicking. Dogs can explore the park on a farm and walk along the river trail.
